The International Fabric Collection began in 1987 as a home-based business. We soon outgrew the house and opened a store and then added our online store. Our store is in Fairview PA on Highway 20 just west of the junction with Highway 98 (about 11 miles west of downtown Erie) Our I-90 Exit is 16 and then turn north toward the Lake. Map of 7870 W Ridge Rd Fairview, PA 16415, US Our owner, Dorothy Brown, has been quilting since the early 80's beginning mainly with traditional quilts. Life changed when she took a class from Roberta Horton in quilting with non-traditional fabrics. When the class was ending we were told how hard it was to get the Japanese yukata fabrics. Dorothy's brother-in-law was going to Japan for three weeks and she asked him to find fabrics. He said it was the best trip he had going from place to place finding fabrics for her. The next trip was adding other categories of fabrics and a shop was born. Sue Shelenberger is the wonderful shop manager who keeps everything running smoothly. Sue loves to quilt in purples but we don't give her much time to sew. Sue commutes from Ohio so we will occasionally miss a day being open if have "lake effect" snow from Lake Erie. Meg Shufran will usually take your order. She has sewn but we are trying to turn her into a quilter! She is very conscientious in filling orders and loves having people come in to shop. She and Jeanne are great gardeners too. Jeanne Ferguson comes in sometimes to help us. She a beautiful sewer and smocker and is a very accomplished needlewoman. She loves to make purses and is always finding new patterns for us. It is wonderful to work in a place where everyone enjoys working together. We all pride ourselves in giving good customer service at all times. We enjoy visitors to the shop. We also enjoy our phone and email customers. Vending at shows is particularly rewarding. We love placing a face to a website customer. We are always open to suggestions you have to improve our service. Our customer satisfaction is of the utmost importance to us. One of us will answer the phone personally and promptly unless the call is in non-business hours but we will call you back immediately when we return to the store. Store hours: Mon - Fri 9am to 3pm. Some Saturdays 10am to 2pm. Other times by appointment (please call). |
